So i love the beach as do many, but on the east coast it seems really hard to be able to have a simple bonfire on the beach. It would be the total completion to a great warm summer`s day at the beach to relax and have some smores over a raw fire.

globehound(1003 Days ago)Where on the east coast do you reside? I`ve had bonfires in Montauk and there is no better way to spend an evening. It didn`t anything specific except following a few local beach ordinances.Flag as Inappropriate

zachwashere(1002 Days ago)Totally agree with your sentiments about bonfires being a difficult proposition in the northeast; down south it was never an issue.

A couple of my friends looked into this once, and as I remember they found out that it`s illegal on Long Beach, and on any beach that is considered "National Seashore property".

Your best bet might be further out like Montauk as globehound suggested, or finding someone with private property on the beach?Flag as Inappropriate

buster55(989 Days ago)If you are willing to drive 5 hrs north.....Sodus Point, on the shore of Lake Ontario is better than the ocean in many ways..fresh water being the best.
Huge beach..Fires are no problem & it looks as big as an ocean...can`t see across to Canada. There are B&Bs & cottages for rent, several restaurants with a lively night life & usually 2 or 3 bands playing on the weekends. And compared to Long Island prices...This is Cheap!!!!Flag as Inappropriate
