Does anyone know how to go about throwing a bonfire party on long island? I`ve gotten a comment about being able to in Montauk. But i need some more details. Do i need a permit? if so how do i go about getting one? i`m sure there are rules / regulations i need to follow. Does anyone know where i can find them or can give me a rough outline of them? particularly, what time can we burn the fire for? do i need to have a fire extinguisher on hand, etc. Much tx in advance

East Hampton`s beach regulations are at www.easthamptonvillage.org/beaches.htm. In Montauk, the regulations used to be limited to pit depth and time but that may have changed. I`d contact the Chamber of Commerce, they usually know who to call for further information. Do you know which area you`re considering?

awesome! I`m considering anywhere from longbeach and east. But closer to queens is better as i have a lot of friends that are city folk and don`t have cars. Most are willing to take the LIRR but as we`ll be burning into the night, trying to schedule around the late night lirr schedule can be hard. Tx for this!
