Q&A
I Live In
New York City (barely)
I'd Like To Be Living In
New York City (extravagantly)
My Dream Job
Musician, producer, and philanthropist.
If Money Were No Object, I Would
Build a non-profit recording studio and performance complex in NYC that could be a central nervous system for the rich artistic community that exists here and capture its many fragmented facets of cultural expression. Use it for recording new music, educating the youth about playing and recording music (now that music has dropped out of most school systems), sustaining a staff of people to support the recording and dissemination of the music, and for raising awareness select social and cultural issues through the music and sponsored events. In short: Record music, release albums, tour, occasionally take a timeout in a remote location, then repeat.
Greatest Risk Taken To Date
Trying to make a living iin one of the most expensive cities in the world while creating a product (music) that, though a central part of human culture throughout history, is primarily traded for free on the internet.
Proudest Moment/Achievement
I'm virtually incapable of acknowledging my own achievements or celebrating success. It's a double edged sword that drives me forward and wears me down. That being said, I worked on music this year with Lee Scratch Perry, Bob Marley's orginal producer and one of the artists who originated the style of music, dub reggae, that curiously has become the foundation of my artistic identity.
