  • img_ move to a city where a lot of music is being made. when i decided to move in late 2002, i believed the top 3 cities for a working musician were: nyc, la and nashville. i had already visited nyc and loved it, so i decided to move there.

  • img_ work on the craft. i took music classes, practiced everyday, went out to see music, listen to recordings i liked/respected and broke them down to understand their essence. all of this got me inspired and gave me momentum. do this everyday and you`re guaranteed to get better. i took a song-writing class at the new school when i first arrived and the song-writer/teacher of the class got to know me and really supported my talent. he eventually introduced me to a prominent producer and nashville music publisher.

  • img_make a recording. it doesn`t have to be a full length cd, even an ep will work... 3 songs! some of my friends simply make a demo which is better than having nothing to hand out. you need to have something recorded so that people can get an idea of the work you`re capable of.

  • img_be visible. go to shows, meet people, be bold and tell them what you do. offer your services maybe for free, at first. eventually, if you`re talented and work hard, the paying work will come.

  • img_ for singer/songwriters - play shows! there`s no better way for people to catch onto what you do than listening to you play a live set. start at small open mikes and invite your friends. eventually your friends will invite their friends and pretty soon you`ll be able to tell the club bookers that 30 people will show up to see you play. slowly but surely you`ll get a slot at a bigger, more known venue and that will help you to keep building a following. if draw is really important to the booker (which it usually is), don`t play too much around that one town. promote 1 show/month maximum. this way you`ll draw the majority of your fans each time you play.

  • img_ be cool to people. it doesn`t matter how good you are, if you`re a jerk, no one will want to work with you. if you`re friendly, your name is more likely to be passed around as someone who is potentially good to work with and that can lead to all sorts of good things including paying gigs and partnerships.

What is mySomeday.com Close
mySomeday is designed to help you achieve those goals and dreams you’ve always said you’d get to ‘Someday’. It was born from a universal truth; everyone has ‘somedays’ they want to realize. It was designed to address a universal reality; life, laziness or lack of know-how makes achievement elusive. ‘Plans’ are meant to address this gap between truth and reality. Whether you build your own original Plan or copy and customize an existing Expert or Community Plan, this detailed roadmap is meant to get you from start to finish. With a Plan, you can track your progress, set reminders and deadlines, get feedback from the community and much more. In addition to Plans, we hope that all of the elements of the site and the social connections that spring up will take people from idea, to plan, to partnership, and, ultimately, to achievement.
