Someday I'm going to:
Cycle to work by: indiekid
I want to get a bike and cycle to work and around London. I`m a bit put off by all the big buses though... and have never driven so not used to the idea of being on the road

Gerhard(934 Days ago)I think, once you have a bike cycle training should be top of your agenda. Depending where you live chances are you`ll get it for free. Cycletraining UK provide fantastic training and put confident cyclists onto London`s streets every day.
In terms of routes check out the brilliant LCC/TfL London cycle duides available for free at your local tube station or from the TfL website.
Enjoy! It will so liberating, you`ll wonder how you managed before :-)

indiekid(883 Days ago)Thanks Gerhard - I had a lesson today - Hackney council provide 2 free hours, which is nice of them. It made me realise I need to practice a few things (like looking behind while going in a straight line) and so on. Still, I`m much better than I was 2 hours earlier!Flag as Inappropriate

globehound(854 Days ago)I`m in the process of becoming a commuter. I live in Brooklyn and work in midtown Manhattan. I thought about getting a new bike but now have settled on getting a used bike. Want to be sure that its something I`ll stick with before making an investment. Its about a 5 mile ride but it will start with a ride across the Brooklyn Bridge. Let me know how things progress for you and I`ll do the same. I`m looking forward to the health, environmental benefits as well as the zen aspect of riding.Flag as Inappropriate

globehound(820 Days ago)How`s the cycling going? It looks like you and I have the same last step remaining, learn to clean and maintain a bike. I`ve commuted to work 3x now. Its proving to be great exercise and a good way to clear my mind and just focus on the riding.Flag as Inappropriate

globehound(778 Days ago)It would seem that you and I are stuck on the same last Step, cleaning and maintaining a bike. I just set a deadline of December 28. Perhaps you should do the same. Good luck. Shoot me a message when you finally complete the last step.Flag as Inappropriate

indiekid(777 Days ago)Hey globehound. Thanks for the nudge =)

I`ve actually been cycling to work for 3 months now - it`s really good fun and I don`t know how I lived without it now!

I`ve had 4 punctures though - the last one quite nasty in that it was punctured in more places than I could patch up (I had ridden on it), then the next 2 inner tubes burst while I put them on, then the next one developed a puncture as soon as I left the house.

So I bought myself some puncture resistant tyres (apparently the Charge Plug ones are well known to get punctures a lot), which I`ll be putting on when I`m feeling less lazy. That, and pumping up the pressure at least once a week.

I do have to admit I haven`t got to grips with cleaning it - it`s freezing cold in England and can`t really do it inside. That, and I`m lazy =)

How are you getting along? The Brooklyn bridge sounds like a cool place to have a cycle, especially if you can time it so the sun`s setting as you swing by!

What is mySomeday.com Close
mySomeday is designed to help you achieve those goals and dreams you’ve always said you’d get to ‘Someday’. It was born from a universal truth; everyone has ‘somedays’ they want to realize. It was designed to address a universal reality; life, laziness or lack of know-how makes achievement elusive. ‘Plans’ are meant to address this gap between truth and reality. Whether you build your own original Plan or copy and customize an existing Expert or Community Plan, this detailed roadmap is meant to get you from start to finish. With a Plan, you can track your progress, set reminders and deadlines, get feedback from the community and much more. In addition to Plans, we hope that all of the elements of the site and the social connections that spring up will take people from idea, to plan, to partnership, and, ultimately, to achievement.
