I`d like to speak Italian to someone on a regular basis. The best candidate would probably be someone that is just learning and wants to practice.

Someday I'm going to:
Learn to Speak Basic Italian by: globehound
I am going to Italy for a wedding in May and plan to meet distant `Sattos`. I`d like to be able to communicate with them in our family`s native tongue. I`m also tired of being ashamed not to speak Italian, its such a great language.

Emch
Emch(1073 Days ago)I thought I couldn`t learn a language, then I went to Ecuador by myself . Having had only taken 1 semester of Spanish, I learned the language by going to one on one lessons three hours a day for several weeks. Cost was only a few dollars an hour. The only way for me to communicate with anyone was to speak. It was survival. I learned it by 24-7 immersion. Hardly spoke English to anyone but my German landlord and a friend I saw only occiasionally. Stayed for 3 months and people thought I was a German from Paraguay by the end of the trip.Flag as Inappropriate

globehound(1073 Days ago)So what you`re saying is I have to move to Italy, huh? I`m game, just not short about the old ball and chain and the mutt. Maybe she`ll be okay if I just go for 3 months. Can you ask her?Flag as Inappropriate

zachwashere(1072 Days ago)I`m gonna second Emch and say that immersion has got to be the best way to learn...I`ve been eyeing programs like that in Costa Rica.

I took spanish through AP in high school but now I can`t speak it to save my life. I took a class from NYU 6 months ago as well, but that was impossibly boring and I have to say I found it hard to always get out of work to be there by its 6pm start time. I don`t know much about Rosetta Stone though...that`s always been intriguing...

A4S4L4(1066 Days ago)Let me know how you like Rosetta Stone.
Someone recently suggested checking the discs out from the library, since they`re kind of pricey to buy.

Also, I agree with the whole immersion thing. I studied Spanish 7th-10th grades and then junior year of college decided to study abroad in Madrid for a much-need getaway of a semester. I opted to live with a Señora (as opposed to getting an apt. with other English-speaking people in my program), and I still so vividly remember the first time I walked into her apartment and she was speaking Spanish a mile a minute and kept saying "Quieres yogur??" I had no idea what "yogur" was and was totally overwhelmed. She put a thing of yogurt and a spoon in front of me, and I realized everything was going to be okay.

She hardly spoke a lick of English, so I pretty quickly learned Spanish just by living there and eating dinner with her every night.

What is mySomeday.com Close
mySomeday is designed to help you achieve those goals and dreams you’ve always said you’d get to ‘Someday’. It was born from a universal truth; everyone has ‘somedays’ they want to realize. It was designed to address a universal reality; life, laziness or lack of know-how makes achievement elusive. ‘Plans’ are meant to address this gap between truth and reality. Whether you build your own original Plan or copy and customize an existing Expert or Community Plan, this detailed roadmap is meant to get you from start to finish. With a Plan, you can track your progress, set reminders and deadlines, get feedback from the community and much more. In addition to Plans, we hope that all of the elements of the site and the social connections that spring up will take people from idea, to plan, to partnership, and, ultimately, to achievement.
