you need to determine the type of website you want. the general classifications and examples of sites that we`ve built are:

 (i) corporate: which offer information about a company including products/services they offer (www.ecowork.com)

(ii) brand: which showcase the brand personality and attitude and contain creative elements including flash animation or small applications that can be downloaded (www.cpwoman.com)

(iii) microsite: which are specific to a particular product/service, have a shorter shelf life and are normally part of a larger offline campaign (www.bulletclasssic.com)

(iv) community: which are designed to attract like-minded users to a single platform to exchange views, post comments and post content (www.mysomeday.com)

 (v) personal: which are generally expressions of a particular individual or celebrity (www.iqbalmohamed.com) an

(vi) ecommerce: which are built to make it easy for users to shop online(www.gpsupplies.com).

of course, there are instances when elements from various of these types of sites are combined (www.royalenfield.com)

this sounds more intimidating than it is. a wireframe is simply a bare-bones skeleton/layout of key pages. this process will hep you decide where various elements will be placed and just thinking about placement of the content and functions will help you flesh out the concep further. you`ll come up with new ideas as during this process and you`ll also start to prioritize content. powerpoint or keynote are excellent programs to use during this step.

the single most important aspect of a site is its design. even with great functionality, a poor design won`t grab people`s attention and if its not `usable` they won`t keep coming back for more. from our 11 years of experience, there are several key elements to good design:

 (i) balance or an equal distribution of heavy and light aspects of a page

(ii) unity where similar functions in the website share common look and feel and diverse functions are delineated as such

(iii) emphasis on certain focal points where the eye is naturally drawn

(iv) contrast in colors, shapes, sizes, textures and typography to highlight certain content, and

(vi) rhythm or repetition which brings internal consistency into the overall design.

this step generally requires some outside assistance. whether it be a graphic designer or a web design firm like dzinegarage, their expertise will help you come up with an attractive and effective graphical user interface (aka design).

a good designer will use the wireframes as a guide to come up with actual web pages. during this step, process is everything and you should expect a a lot of back and forth. open communication will greatly increase the likelihood that your website will be well-organized, easily navigable, and user-friendly.

this involves taking your vision and using programming language to bring that vision to life. if you don`t have expertise, you`ll definitely need to hire oustide assistance. until a few years ago, most sites were coded in a language called html using table-based layouts. now css, or cascading style sheets have replaced html and provide many advantages.

if your website content requires frequent updating, be sure your to consider a cms, content management system. this will enable you to update content on your website, without the intervention of programmers or knowledge of programming skills.

if your site requires involvement of more than two people, you`d be wise to consider a collaboration tool that allows for clear and effective communication between you (the visionary) and the designers/programmers. this will streamline the process and greatly enhance efficiency.

basecamp is an example of a tool that allows multiple users to access a single website that stores all of the messages and files as well as project milestones and to-do lists. it essentially replaces the need for e-mails and keeps everyone on the project on the same page.

What is mySomeday.com Close
mySomeday is designed to help you achieve those goals and dreams you’ve always said you’d get to ‘Someday’. It was born from a universal truth; everyone has ‘somedays’ they want to realize. It was designed to address a universal reality; life, laziness or lack of know-how makes achievement elusive. ‘Plans’ are meant to address this gap between truth and reality. Whether you build your own original Plan or copy and customize an existing Expert or Community Plan, this detailed roadmap is meant to get you from start to finish. With a Plan, you can track your progress, set reminders and deadlines, get feedback from the community and much more. In addition to Plans, we hope that all of the elements of the site and the social connections that spring up will take people from idea, to plan, to partnership, and, ultimately, to achievement.
