Someday I'm going to:
get over my chronic procrastination by: abbiht
I really think my chronic procrastination on little daily things creates a low-grade level of tension and anxiety and is a symptom of something bigger. I`d like to get to the root of the problem and change some habits.

lulu(1170 Days ago)i have the same problem, and you`re right. it definitely creates a constant low-grade level of stress. once in a blue moon i will get things done right away, and i am AMAZED at how immeasurably better life is!!! it`s like i can breathe twice as deeply and there`s sunshine coming in from everywhere. there is such a load lifted off of my shoulders. nothing dangling above my head anymore to keep me from fully ENJOYing life from moment to moment. and i wonder, why don`t i do this all the time? life is amazing when i don`t procrastinate!
and yet... then i very easily slip back into my old habits, and there`s that cloud of low-level anxiety following me around again...

globehound(1170 Days ago)I struggle with this as well. Maybe its just human nature but life is definitely more rewarding when I actually participate. This site and the idea of Plans was designed with that in mind. Its strange how much momentum you can get from simply putting words to screen.

My advice would be not to dwell on it at all, just pay attention for it. And then if you recognize it, simply get up and start doing something, anything at all. Its like the simple action of getting up somehow defeats it and you don`t even have to know why. However, if take a more scientific approach, please let me know what you discover.

abbiht(1169 Days ago)Hmmm thanks for the comments...I shall deem them all worthy of an altruism raise. I started reading the book "Do it NOW! Break the Procrastination Habit" by Dr. William J. Knaus which, interestingly enough (or not at all), I`ve had for years and never opened. HA! Anyway, I`m glad I started it though because it is helping me to understand more about different levels and types of procrastination and how it mentally beats you up and affects those around you. Seems simple enough but sometimes you just need a kick in the ass to realize how you`re being a jerk to others by indulging your stupid habits.

Zach...how do I know how to make a plan? Do I just think about what the logical steps are?? Like 1) get your sh** together 2) get off your butt 3) do stuff.....

zachwashere(1169 Days ago)I think that`s probably the best place to start for sure. Then as people look at it hopefully they`ll be able to help you add to it. And eventually as this site grows it`s very likely that someone will post something about how they actually managed to conquer (or at least contain) their penchant for procrastination.

Also, if there`s anything you`re procrastinating on specifically it always helps to make lists and give yourself deadlines, I`ve found...something that this site was actually designed to help you do.

Hope that helps, and best of luck! See you soon!

What is mySomeday.com Close
mySomeday is designed to help you achieve those goals and dreams you’ve always said you’d get to ‘Someday’. It was born from a universal truth; everyone has ‘somedays’ they want to realize. It was designed to address a universal reality; life, laziness or lack of know-how makes achievement elusive. ‘Plans’ are meant to address this gap between truth and reality. Whether you build your own original Plan or copy and customize an existing Expert or Community Plan, this detailed roadmap is meant to get you from start to finish. With a Plan, you can track your progress, set reminders and deadlines, get feedback from the community and much more. In addition to Plans, we hope that all of the elements of the site and the social connections that spring up will take people from idea, to plan, to partnership, and, ultimately, to achievement.
