Someday I'm going to:
be my own boss. by: Ryankaz
I've always wanted to only work for myself. To rely on no one besides myself to make money and live the life I choose to live.

zachwashere(1174 Days ago)I feel like you have a serious leg up on me just considering the fact that you live in Chicago...

Maybe I should add "Move to the midwest" as a step in my go freelance someday

Ryankaz(1174 Days ago)Yes. Move to the midwest, things get easier, you have less cultural events to avoid, people somehow drink more and apartments are bigger. It`s sweet.

Also, NY experience really goes a long way, it`s always an interview/meeting discussion point.

lbmills(1173 Days ago)I wish you the best. I did that for a while still have a business and a half going but unfortunately I was forced to go back into employment because I needed steady income. Hopefully you will be more successful than I.Flag as Inappropriate

A4S4L4(1173 Days ago)Wow, McCullough.
I never thought I`d hear those words come out of your mouth...I was actually going to tell you to add that as a step to your freelance someday, but I figured you were sick of hearing it from me ;-

Ryan, since when do you live in Chicago and why haven`t we hung out?

globehound(1173 Days ago)zachwashere, I see a future for you in NYC someday. if i were you, i`d stick around.Flag as Inappropriate

Ryankaz(1173 Days ago)I moved to Chicago about 1 1/2 years ago. We haven`t hung out because I never connected the very obvious dots. Also, you might steal all my freelance work. Then My Someday would be YOUR Someday, and that was defeat the whole point of this site. And I`d probably be depressed. He-Ghost.Flag as Inappropriate

zachwashere(1146 Days ago)How are things on the freelance front? You ever get the thing with Euro going?Flag as Inappropriate
Ryankaz
Ryankaz(1146 Days ago)Well, freelance is moving, but it`s a bit slow. I have 2 clients right now. 1 has a set amount of work a month, which is nice. But it`s a TV client, so I can never tell if it`s going to get bigger or smaller. Hopefully, at the very least, it stays the same.

My other client is a bit slow moving because the person that approves all work is also the owner/president of the company. At least it`s more hours.

The thing with Euro would be sweet, but they just announced some new business today. Which is where their openings are. I assume that they can now ramp up the hiring/contract work. If the Euro thing works out, I feel like I can mark my first mysomeday as "complete." (That`s right, period inside the quotes.)

Anyone else trying this? Any advice? Any horror stories? Even better, any success stories?

azhure(1082 Days ago)Network the heck out of your freelancing if you aren`t already. Sounds silly, but every single rich person I met knows how to network with a skill that leaves most people in the dust. I hate smoozing up to people but I see that when I don`t, I get the short end of the stick.Flag as Inappropriate

What is mySomeday.com Close
mySomeday is designed to help you achieve those goals and dreams you’ve always said you’d get to ‘Someday’. It was born from a universal truth; everyone has ‘somedays’ they want to realize. It was designed to address a universal reality; life, laziness or lack of know-how makes achievement elusive. ‘Plans’ are meant to address this gap between truth and reality. Whether you build your own original Plan or copy and customize an existing Expert or Community Plan, this detailed roadmap is meant to get you from start to finish. With a Plan, you can track your progress, set reminders and deadlines, get feedback from the community and much more. In addition to Plans, we hope that all of the elements of the site and the social connections that spring up will take people from idea, to plan, to partnership, and, ultimately, to achievement.
