Tifani(787 Days ago)This is an awesome plan... and perhaps more realistic than you might think. I took a break from school and paid off all of my debt in approximately a year. I then bought a condo, and made a bad `self-employed` career move (full-time real estate agent- ha) and reaccumulated the debt. Anway my strategy was to figure out how I could cut as many expenses as possible, pay the the minimum on my cards, with all of the surplus going to the cards with the highest interest (not balance). Be creative, walk to work if you can, figure out your guilty pleasure that`s eating up your dough and cut back. I had to swallow a very very big piece of humble pie and move back in with my parents. To give me piece of mind I offered to pay them a little.

Here`s a great calculator to help you get started. It will show you exactly how long it will take, how much it will cost you in interest, and how much you should pay: http://cgi.money.cnn.com/tools/debtplanner/debtplanner.jsp (
Of course tweak it as you need to.)

As for paying for school without going into debt... my old strategy was to find a job that offered tuition reimbursement. The problem with this is they may not cover your industry. New strategy... work for the institution. Many of them cover all or most of the tuition. I hope this helps.
Good luck!

What is mySomeday.com Close
mySomeday is designed to help you achieve those goals and dreams you’ve always said you’d get to ‘Someday’. It was born from a universal truth; everyone has ‘somedays’ they want to realize. It was designed to address a universal reality; life, laziness or lack of know-how makes achievement elusive. ‘Plans’ are meant to address this gap between truth and reality. Whether you build your own original Plan or copy and customize an existing Expert or Community Plan, this detailed roadmap is meant to get you from start to finish. With a Plan, you can track your progress, set reminders and deadlines, get feedback from the community and much more. In addition to Plans, we hope that all of the elements of the site and the social connections that spring up will take people from idea, to plan, to partnership, and, ultimately, to achievement.
