Someday I'm going to:
get diagnosed as ADD/Asperger`s by: GavBelcher
I`m 30 now & though the NHS in Britain is a wonderful system, it is lacking in some areas & conservatism, funding priorities, & a catch 22 of scepticism towards those who have not already been diagnosed in infancy persist leaving adults undiagnosed.

GavBelcher(866 Days ago)Have spoken to Low Intensity Liz who is leaving the service. She spoken to Ms Double Barrel the Gatekeeper who is due to refer me. I`ve not been so good at maintaining my thought diary, though I aim to put up a few items on University of Gav when I can. Still, we`ll see. I wrote to Autism West Midlands and got details on a clinic that sounds perfect. I passed the details onto Low Intensity Liz who claimed she would pass them on, but, of course, she is moving on, has two weeks left and scant motivation. I may see my doctor on Monday or in the week to ask him about it.Flag as Inappropriate

GavBelcher(863 Days ago)Wrote to Autism West Midlands a week or so ago and got the details of an adult Neurodevelopmental Clinic in Birmingham that sounds perfect for my needs. (Oh, have written about this above) passed details to Liz, as I say, but didn`t trust that alone and I`m going to need to get more pushy, so I booked in with the doctor today and spoke to him for a lot longer than I typically would in the NHS. Indeed, he remembered a few details about my case, which reassured me. I had rushed off forgetting the letter - packing my bag instead with those all essential books to read while waiting and my thoughts diary - but told him about it as he was telling me how few options he has with regards to referrals. To my surprise he took this on board and asked to see the letter. I brought it down later on. it is another step. Back to the waiting game. A slightly less anxious waiting game than it has been until now.Flag as Inappropriate

GavBelcher(853 Days ago)It has all moved on fairly quickly since the last comment I made. On the same day as I saw the doctor, I got a call from Low Intensity Liz, who was moving out of the service and talked about how to refer me and who would be dealing with my case from hereon in - Ms Double Barrel. The same day I also got a call from a CBT therapist who promptly booked me in to see me the same Thursday, that is, last week. Today, I`m off again, and she seemed to be a model of competence. She talked convincingly of how she would expedite my referral, and asked for an e-mail of the details of the clinic. I sent them. In reply, she told me she hoped to have news today. Fingers crossed.Flag as Inappropriate

GavBelcher(818 Days ago)Ok. I have now seen Dr Cretin II (though it may be a touch early to be using such language in his case as he hasn`t completely PROVEN himself incompetent yet). A LOT of anxiety before (cue a million intrusive daydreams about laying into an obnoxious diner at a restaurant), and a LOT of anxiety afterwards, which is only now starting to disipate [however I spell that word it doesn`t look right but you know what I mean]. It doesn`t remotely FEEL like I`m making progress, and the three week wait to my next appointment seems a long time, but something is moving is perhaps better than nothing. And my CBT therapist remains on the ball!Flag as Inappropriate

GavBelcher(782 Days ago)I`ve seen Dr Cretin II and have been told that a referral is `in hand`. I`ll believe that when I see it, but for the moment there is, I am assured, some movement.Flag as Inappropriate

What is mySomeday.com Close
mySomeday is designed to help you achieve those goals and dreams you’ve always said you’d get to ‘Someday’. It was born from a universal truth; everyone has ‘somedays’ they want to realize. It was designed to address a universal reality; life, laziness or lack of know-how makes achievement elusive. ‘Plans’ are meant to address this gap between truth and reality. Whether you build your own original Plan or copy and customize an existing Expert or Community Plan, this detailed roadmap is meant to get you from start to finish. With a Plan, you can track your progress, set reminders and deadlines, get feedback from the community and much more. In addition to Plans, we hope that all of the elements of the site and the social connections that spring up will take people from idea, to plan, to partnership, and, ultimately, to achievement.
