Someday I'm going to:
document a holocaust survivor`s story by: A4S4L4
Sept. `04-May `05 I participated in a guinea pig program in NYC where they matched up college students with local Holocaust survivors. I`ve been in touch with S. ever since, but I keep meaning to successfully document his story before it`s too late.

Step 3: Document the conversation by taking notes and photographs.3
  • img_in my experience, my survivor didn`t want to be filmed, so i had to rely on taking notes. i didn`t take that great of notes because i thought it was insensitive and unfair to not give him my undivided attention. because of this, i`d like to ask him if he`d mind sharing his story one more time and record our conversation/his story with my newly-purchased digital voice recorder.

A4S4L4(543 Days ago)I unfortunately don`t know when I`ll be back...I`m having my mom and sister meet up with him when they`re there for the half marathon in April (I`ll be in Africa), but hopefully this`ll motivate me to take a few days off work (even though i`m about to take a month off...) get out there in the near future.
And, yes, we have to get together this time! Maybe we can do ASL-only again ;-)

Yes it is motivating.
Unfortunately it won`t happen for at least two months though, due to my upcoming trip...I`m planning to call him before I go, though. I`ll be sure to mention (again) that I`d like to re-interview him.

A4S4L4(414 Days ago)Good news!
I found insanely cheap airfare ($120!!!) to NYC for a long weekend in August. I wrote S. a letter before I left for Africa a few months ago asking if it`d be okay if I record his story some time this summer.
I called him today to let him know the dates of my trip and asked if he got my letter. He gave me the go-ahead to record whatever I want!
Hearing that made my day...can`t wait to make it back out there...can`t believe it`s been a whole year!

A4S4L4(384 Days ago)Three days ahead of schedule, I met with S. today for FIVE hours, about 3.5 of which involved me holding the voice recorder pointed in his direction, as we sat in his studio apartment on the Upper West Side.
Quite a [heavy] way to start my weekend here...but I feel good that this has finally been recorded.
(I brought my video camera along, too, in case he changed his mind about being filmed...unfortunately, he stuck to his guns, so audio it is.)

What is mySomeday.com Close
mySomeday is designed to help you achieve those goals and dreams you’ve always said you’d get to ‘Someday’. It was born from a universal truth; everyone has ‘somedays’ they want to realize. It was designed to address a universal reality; life, laziness or lack of know-how makes achievement elusive. ‘Plans’ are meant to address this gap between truth and reality. Whether you build your own original Plan or copy and customize an existing Expert or Community Plan, this detailed roadmap is meant to get you from start to finish. With a Plan, you can track your progress, set reminders and deadlines, get feedback from the community and much more. In addition to Plans, we hope that all of the elements of the site and the social connections that spring up will take people from idea, to plan, to partnership, and, ultimately, to achievement.
